Dr. Irineu Antao Pereira is a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon, the Curator of  The ‘Art’ of Medicine Mentoring Program for Healthcare Professionals, and the Author of the much-acclaimed Kindle and Amazon book - The 'Art' of Medicine - The essential Guide to Positive Experiences in Healthcare. 

A former alumnus of JIPMER, Pondicherry, a former senior faculty at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka, India. Dr.Irineu has also been a Consultant at Manipal Hospitals – in Mangalore and Goa. He had a brief stint at the former Apollo-Franchise Hospital, Goa ; before turning into a freelance consultant in private practice and a healthcare entrepreneur. 

Dr.Irineu has been instrumental in conceptualizing, designing and operationalizing  group surgical practices in 'Minimal-Access and Minimally Invasive Surgery' - with emphasis on short break-even times, with a judicious mix of supply-chain and marketing management strategies. He is the Managing Partner of Good Shepherd Healthcare(R)   and the Founder of Signum Vitalis(TM) – The Patient Experience Management Company. Dr. Irineu, has always been passionate about creating delightful patient experiences and has had his practice founded on the Hippocrates dictum : “Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always.” 

His personal learning experiences as a patient and as a healthcare provider, led him to start ‘curating’ patient-friendly practices. It was a passion that came naturally to him hailing from a family of predominantly healthcare professionals. Dr.Irineu had his foundations of ethical and patient-centric practices laid down early in life by his late father, Dr.Jose Maria Antao Pereira. He chose to update his knowledge on the economic and patient experience areas in healthcare, by pursuing– at the peak of his career,  MBA in Healthcare Management - with a focus on Patient Experience Management and Cost-Leadership Strategies in Healthcare. 

Dr.Irineu loves guiding healthcare professionals in being ‘SMART’ versions of themselves, to achieve personal  and professional ‘Nirvana’, conducting  The ‘Art’ of Medicine Mentoring Program for Healthcare Professionals at Signum Vitalis. This program is an encapsulation of Dr.Irineu’s life's learnings from his 30-odd years of love affair with the practice of the art, science and economics of medicine. The Program is now hosted on 'The Art of Medicine Academy' platform, and brings the best of healthcare professionals to mentor the fresh set of specialists and super-specialists.
